Dear Colleagues and Friends,

Here is some great news, and great news comes out of deep reflection. As many of you know, I have struggled with what I want to do in this discipline. Training and therapy is what I am known for. However, after delivering this for roughly a decade, I felt frustrated and unsatisfied, not with my clients or students but the wider concept of how the world responds to trauma.

Rachel America 1

Over the past two years, I stepped back from the everyday involvement of the world to take care of my family. I hiked the national parks of America with my faithful friend, Odin, to think deeply, and to see clearly what was truly needed in the trauma field and what I felt I could offer.

During that time, I completed my MSc in Clinical Psychiatry and began developing my doctoral research. This space allowed me to look at the wider landscape, at the good work being done, but also at the fragmentation, the lack of standards, and the growing onslaught of unregulated trauma practice causing harm to both clients and practitioners.

I realised that training alone wasn’t enough. What the world needs now is regulation with compassion, a system that protects the public, safeguards practitioners, and sets coherent national standards that are directed by the Tri-phasic model.

So, after careful consideration, I’ve officially closed Integrated Trauma Solutions LTD. It served its purpose beautifully, which was to educate and equip, but it is time for something more beneficial to the public.

The Trauma Regulation Board (TRB)

Today, I’m proud to introduce the next stage of that mission:

TRB Banner 2

A professional body dedicated to building a regulated, trauma-competent field across disciplines, which includes education, justice, health, and social care, therapeutic practice, with transparent standards, accreditation, and real accountability.

The TRB will solidify what has been built over the past decade, which includes research, training, policy, and regulation, into one framework that truly protects people and advances trauma science.

It will also anchor a transatlantic bridge between the UK, the US and Australia, bringing together practitioners, researchers, and organisations to create coherent, measurable trauma standards.

We are assembling a multi-disciplinary group of thinkers committed to shaping the future of safe, accountable, and trauma-competent practice.

If you share this vision and would like to be considered for the advisory board, please contact us at [email protected] to open a dialogue for change.

All future correspondence will be from the The Trauma Regulation Board
