TRB Newsletter 05/11/2025

Dear Colleagues and Friends,
Firstly, I wanted to say thank you for all the positive responses and connections from our previous email. It was a long decision to close ITS; however, it was the right one and thank you again for all the wonderful feedback.
Today is the day, we are proud to announce the official launch of the Trauma Regulation Board (TRB). We are the first body dedicated to creating national standards and regulations for trauma-informed care.
For too long, trauma practice has operated without consistent oversight.
Well-meaning professionals have worked in isolation, often without access to evidence-based frameworks, supervision structures, or protection from unsafe systems.
The TRB was created to bring coherence, accountability, and professional recognition to everyone working with trauma-affected individuals across mental health, social care, education, policing, and beyond.
This is more than an organisation, it’s a professional movement redefining what safe trauma care looks like in the modern world.
Complaints about unsafe trauma practice have risen sharply across all major registers.

The term “Trauma-Informed” is used widely, yet no shared standard defines what that means in practice. Practitioners are often left without trauma-specific training, guidance, or protection.

The TRB changes this.
We are introducing a single, unified framework for trauma practice built around clinical safety, neurobiological evidence, and ethical regulation. The Tri-Phasic Model remains the gold-standard approach and anchors all TRB accreditation pathways.
If you’ve ever felt frustrated by unsafe or inconsistent trauma work, you already understand why the TRB had to exist. The standards are here to transform the delivery of trauma-focused therapy, for Practitioners and clients alike.
Introducing the Founder – Rachel Fairhurst

With a background spanning social work, trauma-focused therapy, and clinical psychiatry, Rachel Fairhurst has spent over a decade developing systems that integrate the tri phasic model into all disciplines.
The TRB represents a lifetime of work dedicated to elevating standards, protecting practitioners, and advancing trauma interventions across the UK and beyond.
Our vision is not about creating another membership body; it’s about building an ecosystem of competence, collaboration, and public trust.
What We’re Building
National Trauma Register - recognising safe, verified trauma practitioners and organisations.
Tiered Accreditation Pathway - aligned with the Tri-Phasic Trauma Recovery Model.
Research & Policy Division - shaping trauma-aware legislation and best-practice standards.
Professional Oversight Framework - built to PSA equivalency for long-term regulation.
Together, these pillars form the infrastructure for the future of trauma practice and are designed by practitioners, not committees.
How You Can Get Involved
We are now building our network of practitioners, educators, and organisations who share this vision.
If you would like to:
Contribute expertise to advisory groups,
Join early accreditation,
Be part of shaping the national standard,
Join our webinar (coming soon)
Those who come on board now will be helping to shape the gold standard that others will follow, as the TRB builds the foundation for trauma regulation across the UK and internationally.
This is your opportunity to be part of the change. We encourage collaboration, community, and value your opinion.
Express your interest in an Advisory Role
Every change in professional history began with people who refused to accept “good enough.”
The TRB exists for practitioners and clients who know trauma care can - and must - be better.
Thank you for being part of that change.
