TRB Newsletter 18/02/26

Dear Friends and Colleagues,
Over the past three months, the Trauma Regulation Board (TRB) has continued to strengthen its presence across Asia. This past week marked an important milestone, with Founder Rachel Fairhurst visiting TRB Asia en route to TRB Team USA, further reinforcing our global collaboration.
Advancing Trauma‑Regulated Practice in Nepal
In Nepal, the TRB has been working closely with local partners to deepen the understanding of cultural diversity, caste‑related dynamics and the environmental factors that shape trauma responses. This work has allowed us to test and refine our established cluster‑mapping framework within a new cultural context, ensuring it remains robust, adaptable and globally relevant.
The TRB has now been fully integrated into a newly developed Emergency Trauma First Aid Programme, designed to combine high‑quality first‑aid training with trauma‑prevention and trauma‑reduction principles following significant injury.
Approximately 250 participants, including police, rescue personnel, trekking guides and representatives from tourism boards have received training to prepare them both psychologically and physically for incidents ranging from road traffic collisions to periods of political instability. This preparation strengthens community resilience and supports Pokhara which is the tourism capital of the Himalayas, maintaining its reputation as a safe and responsive destination.
Our international liaison, who has been working in Nepal for several months, continues to strengthen multi‑sector partnerships across early‑years education, trauma prevention, and early‑adult mental health support. A TRB’s presence in Nepal is now firmly established and positioned for long‑term impact.
NOTUNREADY: A Multi‑Agency Response Across Gandaki
NOTUNREADY is a coordinated, multi‑agency initiative supporting both single‑casualty and mass‑casualty incidents across the Gandaki (Pokhara) region.
The ethos of NOTUNREADY is simple yet powerful:
Identity and culture are not applicable in crisis. First responders and casualties stand united as human beings.
Through this programme, The TRB and our world‑leading partners have delivered:
120 identical multi‑casualty trauma packs
Training for over 200 first responders
A dual focus on emergency first aid and the prevention of psychological trauma for responders, casualties and the wider community
A Growing Global Partnership
This work reflects the strength of the TRB’s international collaboration and our commitment to trauma‑regulated, mechanism‑based practice. Together with our partners, we continue to build safer, more resilient communities, locally and globally.
