Dear Colleagues, Partners and Members of the TRB Community.
TRB Sector Update - Strengthening Trauma‑Informed Practice Across the UK
The Trauma Regulation Board continues its commitment to embedding trauma‑informed, conscientious practice across all sectors of society, in workplaces, in communities and at home.
Trauma prevention, reduction and long‑term care are complex challenges and meaningful solutions must be equally comprehensive.
At the heart of our work is a simple principle:
People need clear pathways to support, whether they know they need help or not.
Early intervention, accessible resources and environments built on safety and understanding are essential to preventing individuals from falling through the cracks.
Why Trauma-Informed Practice Matters
Being trauma‑informed is no longer optional. It is the modern, responsible approach to improving the human lived experience. When organisations understand trauma and respond appropriately, they not only protect their people; they enhance performance, strengthen culture and create sustainable, positive environments.
A trauma‑aware workforce is a resilient workforce.
A trauma‑aware organisation is a future‑ready organisation.
The Role of The Trauma Regulation Board
The TRB is driving system‑wide change through the regulation and modernisation of the mental health sector. Our work supports long‑term development across multiple industries, ensuring that trauma‑informed practice becomes a standard, not an exception.
Current focus areas include:
Railways
Farming & Agriculture
Fire & Rescue
Private Security
Child Protection
These sectors represent only a portion of our ongoing work, with continued engagement across all areas where trauma exposure is prevalent.
In the Field: TRB Engagement Over the Last Two Weeks
Our team has been actively present across the UK attending CPD events, visiting organisations and opening dialogue with individuals at every level; from new recruits to senior leaders, from training providers to equipment suppliers.
Our approach is simple:
To understand trauma within a sector, you must be in it, around it and listening to the people who live it every day.
This hands‑on engagement allows us to:
Identify sector‑specific trauma challenges
Understand the lived experiences of workers and customers
Map existing support structures
Highlight gaps in care and access
Guide employers in creating safe, supportive environments
By understanding the full picture, we help organisations build meaningful pathways to support both inside and outside the workplace.
Be Informed. Be a Change Maker. Be Supported. Be Regulated.
The TRB is here to support individuals, organisations, and sectors as we collectively move toward a safer, more trauma‑aware society.

How TRB Training Supports You
TheTRB is offering the UK’s first trauma-governed workforce standard. Our CPD's and accredited programs help you engage with individuals affected by trauma and equip you with a solid foundation of trauma awareness by grounding practice in the Universal Trauma Practice Standards. The training reinforces the safeguards required for the trauma informed practitioner. It supports practitioners across all sectors, most importantly, it enables anyone working with traumatised persons to align their practice with emerging regulatory expectations, ensuring that their approach is ethically robust, trauma‑aware and compliant with the TRB’s evolving oversight framework.
