THE TRAUMA REGULATION BOARD

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) set out the rights, obligations, and rules governing membership, accreditation, oversight, and participation in TRB‑regulated activities, including use of TRB’s platforms, resources, courses, publications, and events.

By applying for membership, renewing membership, using TRB’s website or services, or engaging in TRB‑regulated work, you agree to comply with these Terms. If you do not agree, you may not hold TRB membership or access TRB resources.

Purpose and Authority

  • TRB exists to set, uphold, and enforce standards for all individuals, organisations, or entities working with trauma in the UK and abroad where TRB membership is recognised

  • We regulate professional competence, ethical conduct, safeguarding practices, and trauma‑informed governance in line with survivor‑centred principles

  • TRB operates as an independent, non‑governmental regulatory body

Membership Eligibility and Tiers

Membership is open to individuals and organisations meeting TRB’s published criteria for their tier:

  • Affiliate – awareness‑level engagement with trauma‑informed practice (non‑practising)

  • Practitioner – actively working with trauma survivors in a professional capacity

  • Supervisor/Trainer – providing oversight, supervision, or education to trauma practitioners

  • Organisational Member – service providers employing or managing trauma practitioners

All applicants must:

  • Be 18+ years old

  • Meet minimum competence, safeguarding, and ethical requirements

  • Hold any legally required licences, registrations, or insurances for their practice area

  • TRB reserves the right to refuse, suspend, downgrade, or revoke membership for non‑compliance

Scope of Regulation

All TRB members and accredited organisations must:

  • Abide by the TRB Code of Ethics and Conduct

  • Participate in required CPD, supervision, and audit processes

  • Comply with investigations and provide requested documentation

  • TRB regulation does not replace statutory regulation where applicable, but acts in parallel to ensure trauma‑informed standards are upheld

Intellectual Property

All TRB content, models, frameworks, training materials, assessments, videos, and documentation are protected intellectual property.

You may not;

  • Reproduce, adapt, or distribute TRB materials without written consent

  • Use TRB branding, certification marks, or accreditation statements without current, valid authorisation

  • Present TRB content as your own or outside the scope of your membership permissions

Access, Duration, and Changes

  • Memberships run for the term purchased, with renewal subject to continued compliance

  • TRB may modify or discontinue any programme, service, or benefit with reasonable notice

  • Access to regulated resources, including member portals, is conditional upon ongoing good standing

Fees, Payment, and Refunds

Membership, accreditation, and service fees are nonrefundable, except where required by law.

By joining or renewing, you acknowledge:

  • It is your responsibility to ensure the membership tier meets your needs before purchase

  • Missed payments may result in immediate suspension

  • Renewal cancellations must occur before the next billing cycle

Refunds are not given for:

  • Non‑participation

  • Changes in personal circumstances

  • Dissatisfaction where TRB services have been delivered as described

Conduct and Enforcement

You must not:

  • Breach safeguarding, ethical, or professional standards

  • Engage in harassment, exploitation, discrimination, or abuse

  • Share confidential or sensitive materials without appropriate consent

  • Misrepresent your TRB status or credentials

Breaches may result in disciplinary action, including suspension or permanent removal, without refund

Complaints, Investigations, and Disciplinary Actions

TRB operates a transparent complaints process to address:

  • Alleged breaches of the Code of Ethics

  • Misconduct

  • Unsafe or harmful practice

  • You must cooperate fully with TRB investigations

Outcomes may include written warnings, additional training requirements, suspension, or removal

Disclaimer of Liability

TRB sets and enforces regulatory and educational standards but:

  • Is not responsible for the direct delivery of services by members

  • Is not liable for harm arising from unauthorised, unethical, or illegal conduct by members

  • Recommends service users always verify the current membership status of practitioners

Data Protection and Privacy

  • TRB collects and processes personal data in line with UK GDPR and our Privacy Policy

  • Data is used only for regulatory, administrative, and membership purposes

Termination

TRB may suspend or terminate membership without notice in cases of:

  • Gross misconduct

  • Serious safeguarding concerns

  • Criminal conviction related to your role

Outcomes may include written warnings, additional training requirements, suspension, or removal

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, with disputes subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the UK courts

Code of Ethics

All TRB members are bound by the Trauma Regulation Board Code of Ethics, set out in Appendix A. The Code forms part of these Terms and is enforceable as if contained in full herein
